A big congratulations to all involved in Pitchfest 2018, which was a huge success. Ian Mason, Head of Strategic Development for Virgin StartUp, was not only our very special guest, but also chaired the expert panel. Ian has played a pivotal role in helping hundreds of entrepreneurs launch and up-scale their businesses through Virgin StartUp and provided fantastic mentorship to the members who pitched their ideas.

Joining Ian in the private pitch session was Advance QLD entrepreneur Chad Renando from the Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur,  Jacqui Price, Coby Sullivan, Robyn Pullman and IC CEO, Mark Paddenburg.

Six IC members pitched to the expert entrepreneurial panel, including KOKOPOD, Medifarm, NetHealth, IOTIQ, WandsPro and ActivLinx. All six pitches were excellent and left great impressions on Ian Mason and the esteemed panel.

“I loved the pitches…there were some really great businesses in there,” Mason said.

“I’ve seen some really cool start-ups, some people doing some really interesting things that will be interesting not just regionally or nationally, but across the world.”

Mason was also impressed with the ecosystem on the Sunshine Coast, particularly work being done within schools.

“It’s been great to get the full spectrum from what young children are learning at school, which far surpasses the facilities I had when I was at school, right through to how some of the larger businesses…are looked after in a place like [the IC].”

A huge thank you to Mason for his outstanding mentorship throughout the day, other special guests for their valuable input and to the pitching businesses for excellent pitches.
