Epic entrepreneur Glen Richards of Greencross Vets, Petbarn and Shark Tank Australia stopped by the Innovation Centre last week to hear pitches from some of our members including outdoor brand WandsPro, back and body lotion applicator bakslap, VR education consultancy Bundle of Rays, medical cannabis company MEDIFARM, chicken broth innovators Boneafide, agricultural biotech company Terragen and mobile solutions startup ForgetSpecs.

After a networking breakfast, the IC member companies pitched for three minutes with a five-minute feedback and Q&A session with Glen and other review panel experts.

“I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the pitches – all showcased innovative activity as well as strong passion” said Glen about the event. “All the pitches had their own unique story around why they came up with their product and service. At the end of the day you can make money or you can have passion – passion is what drives you on the really tough days.”

On what Glen saw as the most important factor in regional innovation was that “Everybody knew each other and the IC has a great vibe to it – everyone was bouncing off each other. Regional communities like the Sunshine Coast are well connected and more likely to share knowledge. There was a real buzz at the IC today and it’s a very friendly group of entrepreneurs and mentors too.  Keep up the good work!”

“We greatly appreciate Glen’s generous feedback,” said Innovation Centre CEO, Mark Paddenburg, “And while all who pitched were high quality, the one response from Glen that stood out for me was – ‘Great pitch – you have nailed it!’  This is high praise coming from the friendly shark.”

Big thanks to Glen for sharing his years of knowledge, expertise and network with our members. What a way to close 2018 visiting entrepreneurs program!
