Sunshine Coast entrepreneurs are set to benefit from a new six-month Australian Health Accelerator (AH-x) Program to commence from September 2018. The AH-x will be based at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute and run by the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast – Australia’s most successful regional business accelerator.
Innovation Centre Chairman Dr Peter Isdale AM said, “the Sunshine Coast Health Accelerator program will help commercialise new, innovative health related products and services with access to state-of-the-art facilities, simulation suites and laboratories in one of the newest hospitals in the world.”
“This program will be a catalyst for steering 10 new ventures in the right direction with industry-specific tools, mentors, experts, first class resources and the ability for entrepreneurs to interact closely with doctors, nurses and clinicians,” said Peter Isdale.
Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) Director, Anton Sanker said, “the AH-x program will help drive a culture of innovation at the Institute, while also providing essential capacity building for health-related entrepreneurs in one of the newest and most advanced hospitals in the world.”
Innovation Centre CEO Mark Paddenburg said that “following the highly successful Food Accelerator Program, health was the logical next sector to focus on with a lean startup – customer centric approach.”
“Since the launch of AH-x at the Sunshine Coast Health Innovators Forum we have already received 37 applications. We are excited to be partnering with SCHI and we encourage founders and innovators to apply before the 28 July 2018 closing date via: https://innovationcentre.com.au/healthaccelerator/, ” said Mark Paddenburg.
The 10 successful applicants will be supported by leading industry experts with a proven track record in health product development and commercialisation. Companies receive up to $10,000 in value and in-kind support. They will need to commit one day per fortnight during the course of the six-month program, culminating in a high-profile Demo Day launch to industry leaders, media, potential customers and investors. There is a nominal $900 program charge per team which we have kept to a minimum thanks to our program sponsors which include SCRIPT, SCHI, Health Tech Innovation Queensland, University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), Poole Group, Redchip Lawyers, RADBE, The Thomson Institute, The Clinical Trials Centre, SunCoast Angels and Suncare.
