IT Strategy and Technology Consultant
Doug Inman has currently moved into a consulting role after more than 10 years heading up the Group CIO role for
Youi and OUTsurance, where he was a valuable member of the executive team and responsible for the Group’s Information Technology strategy and execution. Doug's tenure at Youi has seen the business grow from when the business launched in 2008 on the Sunshine Coast with less than 50 staff to today where Youi now employs more than 1,200 staff across three international locations with more than 650 million gross written premium.
Doug Inman has spent his last 10 years with Youi Insurance leading the IT strategy, operations and software development teams from start-up to launch phase and then seeing it grow to one of the most profitable and fastest growing general insurers in Australia. Doug has left the corporate world and has embarked on a number of entrepreneurial endeavours, including an exciting new AgTech start-up as well a very early stage AI/ML smart things company. Doug also is actively involved in mentoring technical leaders and providing strategic consulting advice and guidance to a number of Sunshine Coast organisations.
Doug has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from James Cook University and has been involved in the computer and software industry for more than 30 years. Doug’s passion and curiosity for technology is driven by the exponential rate of change that is occurring around us and discovering innovative ways of making use of these emerging technologies to deliver effective and useful solutions for customers.
Doug is a currently a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Sunshine Coast Ambassador and a previous member of the Sunshine Coast Knowledge and Professional Services taskforce. During 2017, Doug was also a steering committee member of the Qld State Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI) that oversaw IT strategy and investment decisions across various state government departments.
Doug spends his spare time reading Innovation, Business and Leadership books, playing Touch Footy and Tennis and designing and building IoT and smart home devices linked to Voice interaction devices such as Alexa, Google Home and Siri.
