Colin is the founder of Causeway Innovation and is focused on enabling businesses and regions to prosper through innovation. He has worked with over 200 startups and growth oriented SMEs and over 50 of the world’s largest companies – such as Unilever, PwC and GlaxoSmithKline - across many sectors including ICT, food, health, cleantech and creative industries.
His business career started in marketing in London as International Product Manager for Dulux before leaving to be the co-founder and CEO of Yellowbrick delivering graduate recruitment and training services for clients such as IBM, Motorola and Deloitte in the UK, Canada and USA.
Colin then joined the Career Innovation Company in Oxford working with global clients, running workshops in London, Paris and Silicon Valley and publishing ‘ePeople, engaging talent in the entrepreneurial age’, the Times newspaper review said: “All CEOs should read it and heed it.”
Colin progressed to supporting startup businesses, initially establishing a Student Business Incubator – awarded best business support program in the UK - and running the Launching New Ventures course for MBA students at the Robert Gordon University in Scotland before migrating to Australia in 2002 to be the founding CEO of the Innovation Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast, directly supporting 83 startups and helping them to raise $23m investment.
Today, Colin’s focus is on developing innovative businesses and regions and through Causeway Innovation he works directly with entrepreneurs in startups and has designed an Innovation Master Class to support ambitious owner managers of SMEs to grow through innovation. He also assists economic development agencies, universities, developers and others to design and implement innovation projects to boost a region's productivity, business growth, employment and investment.
